The Menomonie Public Shooting Range and the Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club are separate entities.

The Menomonie Public Shooting Range is one of three county parks owned by Dunn County Facilities and Parks devoted to the shooting sports. Donations from individuals using these ranges are the major source of the ranges' operational funding . At the Menomonie Public Shooting Range, these donations are in the form of range use donations (donations from individuals when they use the range). The money in the range account is only used for range maintenance and improvements. None of the Range money is used for any club activity or expenses. The suggested donation is $5.00 per person per day (see the range rules and regulations for more details) is applied to range operating costs including: lawn mowing and snow removal, repairs of fences, painting, buildings, equipment, and target stands. Your donations also pay for electricity and office suplies. The Club also performs soil testing to ensure compliance with EPA regulations for shooting ranges.

Major projects are primarily subsidized by grants, corporate and individual donations. The sponsors page lists many of the Range's continuing sponsors. Please consider supporting these organizations.

The Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club is a club dedicated to the advancement of the sport of firearms shooting. Part of that dedication is a partnership with the Dunn County Facilities and Parks Department. In this partnership, the Rifle and Pistol Club maintains and operates this range for Dunn County and manages a separate bank account containing range donations and grants. The Rifle and Pistol Club has over 30 trained Range Safety Officers (RSO) who ensure the Menomonie Public Shooting Range is operated safely for our clients. Neither the club nor any members receive any money from the range funds. Our club members volunteer over 700 hours annually to maintaining and improving the Menomonie Public Shooting Range, the Range Safety Officers have volunteered over 1800 hours to keep the range open to people wishing to use the facility A few of the projects completed over the last few years include: Improving safety by re-working the 100 and 200 yard berms, adding yardage markers, installing a well and pump house for running water, improvements to the trap range, an ADA accessible 300 yard firing bench, installing rock retaining walls, repairing the Blue Sky Blocker, and planting trees to control noise pollution. In addition, The Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club provides lead sleds, spotting scopes, sandbags. and eye and hearing protection at no cost for clients while using the range. These improvements fall directly into the county’s vision of providing recreational activities for local residents and the club’s vision of promoting shooting sports.

The club also hosts several events throughout the year. These include women and youth events, the Appleseed project, Hunter Education Courses, and 1st Responder Appreciation Day. Throughout the year we also hold club shoots which are open to the public. We call them Fun Shoots because they are more about having a good time than being overly competitive. We also host shoots for non-profit organizations, where the proceeds are distributed back into our community. We also provide team building events for organizations. See the Events section for more information.

Portions of the funds from the Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club (not Range donations) are donated to local organizations including Christmas Wish, Stepping Stones, Special Olympics, veterans organizations, Dunn County Crime stoppers, and the Dunn County Sportsmen's Alliance. The club also supports all branches of the military, law enforcement, and first responders.
